The guest list turns out to be three generations long, half of it has not seen the other half since the last big family occasion, and it stopped fitting in anybody's living room years ago. The birthday somebody else has to organise
When you turn sixty you rarely book the room yourself. A husband, a wife, a son or a daughter does it, usually around a full-time job and usually while trying to keep it quiet. Almost everything the room itself needs is already part of the hall fee here: standard decoration, a professional sound system, a projector, professional staff on the day and the cleaning afterwards. One place to call, one price to work out, and no evenings spent chasing suppliers.
An afternoon reception or a sit-down evening
Two quite different parties hide behind the same word. A reception runs for a few hours, guests arrive and leave when it suits them, most people are on their feet, and the food goes where everyone can reach it. A seated birthday has a table plan, courses in order, speeches between them and the floor opened up for music later. Tell us which one you are having and the hall is laid out for it, with long tables, round tables or an open floor.
Three generations in one room
A milestone birthday puts a great-grandmother and a four-year-old at the same event, and they want opposite things from it. Because the seating is flexible, we can keep the oldest guests near the entrance and away from the speakers, and still leave the children room to get up without climbing over anybody. Free parking on site matters here more than it sounds: the guests who should not be walking far can be dropped at the door, and nobody is waiting for a bus at eleven at night.
The speeches will actually be heard
Half the point of a round birthday is that people stand up and say things, and most of those people are not used to holding a room. A professional sound system is included in the hall fee, so a speech reaches the back tables instead of dying at table three, and the projector is there for the photographs nobody has seen since the seventies. Afterwards you can play your own playlist through the same system, or bring a DJ or a live act if you tell us in advance.
Children come at half the menu price
Children aged 5 to 12 pay half the menu price, which changes the arithmetic noticeably when a family party brings a dozen of them along. The hall fee still applies per child, so count the children separately from the adults when you send your numbers. The kitchen is used to feeding a room with a wide age range, and any menu can be made fully vegetarian if that is how your family eats.
A room that arrives ready, not an empty hall
Most halls for hire in Copenhagen are let empty. You collect a key, and then you find a caterer, agree a delivery window, borrow tables, buy the decoration and come back at midnight to sweep the floor after your own mother's birthday. Here the decoration is already up, the tables are laid to your plan, the kitchen is in the building, professional staff work the party and the cleaning afterwards is included. You are welcome to bring your own decoration on top if the party has a colour, a theme or forty photographs of the guest of honour.
Frequently asked questions
How many guests can you host for a birthday party?
The hall seats 30 to 120 guests, with a minimum of 30. For a smaller birthday we lay tables for you in Maiya Nepali Kitchen, the restaurant in the same building, so it is still worth asking.
Do children pay the full price?
No. Children aged 5 to 12 pay half the menu price. The hall fee applies per child as usual, so count the children separately from the adults when you send your numbers.
Can we hold an afternoon reception rather than a sit-down dinner?
Yes. The room is laid out for whichever format you want, standing or seated, and the seating plan is built around it. The start and finish times are agreed with you before the date and written into your offer, so an afternoon party is simply a different set of hours.
Can we play our own music or bring a DJ?
Yes. A professional sound system is included in the hall fee and you can play your own playlist through it. If you are bringing a DJ or a live act, tell us in advance so we can plan the layout of the room around them.
Can we bring our own decoration?
Yes. Standard decoration is included, and you are welcome to add your own flowers, balloons, photographs or table settings. Tell us what you are planning and when you would like access to set it up.
Can we bring our own birthday cake?
No. All the food at an event here is cooked by our own kitchen, dessert included, and outside food does not come into the building. Tell us in the enquiry what you had in mind for the cake and the kitchen will build it into your menu.
Can we bring our own drinks?
Yes. You can bring your own soft drinks and alcohol for a small charge per person, take the soft drinks package charged per person, or have no drinks option at all. All three are in the price table on this page.
Can the menu be vegetarian, and can you handle allergies?
Yes to both. Any menu can be made fully vegetarian for the whole party, and allergies and other dietary needs are planned for when we are told in good time. A custom menu is available if the set menus do not suit your guests.
What does a birthday party cost?
The price is a hall fee per person plus a menu per person, with drinks as an option on top. The rates are in the table on this page, so you can work out the total for your guest list yourself. Children aged 5 to 12 pay half the menu price.
Will another party be running next to ours?
No. There is one hall and it is yours for your booking, so the party does not share the room or the staff with anybody else's.

Every event is catered in-house by Maiya Nepali Kitchen. Choose a set menu from Silver to Diamond, or ask us to build a custom menu around your guests. Any menu can be made fully vegetarian, and we plan around allergies and other dietary needs when you tell us early. Children aged 5 to 12 pay half the menu price.
All prices are per person and include VAT. Your total is the hall fee plus your menu, plus a drinks option if you want one.
