Maiya Party Hall
Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a party for a hundred people involves a surprising number of small decisions, and most of them are easier once you know what the venue can and cannot do. Below are the questions we are asked most often, answered as plainly as we can.

If something you need is not covered here, ask us directly. We reply within 24 hours, Monday to Sunday, and we would much rather answer a question early than have you discover the answer late.

The short version

Frequently asked questions

How many guests does the hall hold?

The hall seats between 30 and 120 guests. Where your party sits in that range changes how we lay the room out, so tell us your expected number early and we will plan the seating around it.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Yes, the minimum booking is 30 guests. If your party is smaller than that, we can usually host you in Maiya Nepali Kitchen, the restaurant under the same roof, so it is still worth asking.

What is included in the hall fee?

The hall fee covers standard decoration, a professional sound system, a projector, professional staff on the day, cleaning afterwards and flexible seating layouts. In other words, the room arrives ready and you do not have to hire any of it separately.

How is the total price worked out?

The price is built per person from three parts: the hall fee, the menu you choose and, optionally, drinks. Every part is charged per guest, so the number of people you invite is the main thing that moves the total.

Do you handle the catering yourselves?

Yes. Every event is catered by Maiya Nepali Kitchen, our own kitchen in the same building, so the food is cooked on site rather than driven in. External caterers are not used.

Can the menu be fully vegetarian?

Yes. Any of our set menus can be made fully vegetarian, and there is a dedicated Vegetable menu as well. Tell us when you enquire and the kitchen will build the whole spread around it.

Can you handle allergies and dietary requirements?

Yes, as long as we are told in advance. Send us the list of allergies and dietary needs with your guest numbers and the kitchen will plan for them properly rather than improvising on the night.

Can we design our own menu?

Yes. The set menus are a starting point, not a limit. If you want dishes swapped, added or built around a particular tradition, tell us what you have in mind and we will price a custom menu for you.

How much do children cost?

Children aged 5 to 12 pay half the menu price. The hall fee and any drinks package still apply per child, so count them separately from the adults when you send your numbers.

What are the options for drinks?

There are two. You can take our soft drinks package, charged per person, or you can bring your own soft drinks and alcohol, which is charged as a small per-person fee instead. The current rates for both are on the prices page.

Can we bring our own alcohol?

Yes. Bringing your own drinks is allowed and is charged per person rather than per bottle, which usually works out well for a large party. Let us know in advance so we can plan glassware and service.

Can we bring our own decoration?

Yes. Standard decoration is included, and you are welcome to add your own flowers, table settings, backdrops or anything else that fits the occasion. Tell us what you are planning and when you would like access to set it up.

Is there parking?

Yes, parking on site is free for you and your guests. Mention it in your enquiry if you expect a lot of cars and we will tell you how the space usually works on the day.

How do guests get there by public transport?

The venue is at Højdevej 59, 2300 København S, on Amager. Put the full address on the invitation rather than the venue name, and Rejseplanen will give every guest the fastest route from wherever they are starting.

Is the venue accessible for guests with limited mobility?

Tell us about any accessibility needs when you book. The seating layout is flexible, so we can widen the routes between tables, hold places near the entrance and plan the room around anyone who needs more space.

How do we book?

Get a price from the calculator or send us an enquiry, and we will confirm availability within 24 hours. After that you receive a written offer, and a deposit confirms the date in the calendar. Nothing is locked in until you have the offer in writing.

What are the deposit and cancellation terms?

The deposit amount and the cancellation terms are set out in the written offer we send you, so you can read them before you commit to anything. Ask us and we will explain them in plain language before the offer goes out.

How far in advance should we book?

As early as you can for a wedding or a date in the busy season, since popular Saturdays go first. That said, it is always worth asking about a short-notice date, because gaps do appear and we will tell you straight away whether we can do it.

Will another party be running at the same time as ours?

No. There is one hall, and it is yours for your booking, so your event will not share the room or the staff with anyone else's.

Can we play our own music?

Yes. A professional sound system is included, and you can play your own playlist through it. If you are bringing a DJ or a live act, tell us in advance so we can plan the layout of the room around them.

Is there a projector?

Yes, a projector is included in the hall fee, which is useful for slideshows, speeches and photo montages. Bring your files on a laptop or a stick and test them with us before the guests arrive.

What time does the event have to finish?

The start and finish times are agreed with you before the date and written into your offer, so everyone knows where they stand. Tell us the schedule you have in mind and we will work to it wherever we can.

Still not sure?

The three pages people usually want next are prices and what is included, which sets out every per-person rate in the open, how booking works, which walks through the process from enquiry to confirmed date, and photographs of the hall so you can see the room before you visit it.

If you have a question that is not answered here, get in touch and ask. You can also read more about the venue and the kitchen, or look at the pages for the occasions we host most often, including weddings and receptions, birthdays and corporate events.
