Maiya Party Hall
Booking terms

Booking and ticket terms

These are the terms for buying a ticket to one of our own events: a Nepali dinner, a tasting night or a seated event at the hall on Højdevej. They are written to be read, not to be survived, so if anything below is unclear, call us on +45 21 95 92 92 and ask before you buy.

Hiring the hall for a private party is a different arrangement. That starts with an enquiry and a conversation, no money changes hands on this website, and the terms of the hire are agreed in writing between us. Nothing on this page is intended to describe a private hire.

Who you are buying from

Tickets are sold by Maiya Nepali Kitchen, CVR 37671533, Højdevej 59, 2300 København S, Denmark. We trade as Maiya Party Hall, and that is the name on the sign and on this website, but the company you enter into a contract with is Maiya Nepali Kitchen and the company name is what appears on your receipt.

You can reach us at info@maiya.dk or on +45 21 95 92 92. We answer within 24 hours, usually a good deal faster, and we work in Danish, English and Nepali.

What a ticket is, and what it includes

A ticket admits one named or unnamed person to one event, on the date and at the time shown on the event page and on the ticket itself. Everything included in the price is described on that event page: what is served, when the doors open, and whether a seat or a table is reserved for you.

If an event offers different ticket types, each type describes what it includes. Where a ticket includes a meal, the meal is the one described on the event page. We cook everything ourselves in our own kitchen in the same building, so if the menu has to change at short notice for reasons outside our control, we will tell you before the event and you may cancel for a full refund if the change matters to you.

A ticket is not personal unless the event page says otherwise. If you cannot come, you may give your ticket to somebody else at no charge, and they should arrive with the same QR code. You do not need to tell us, although it helps if you do.

Prices and VAT

All prices on this website are in Danish kroner and include Danish VAT at 25 percent. The price you see beside a ticket is the price for that ticket, and the total shown at the checkout is the total you pay. We do not add a booking fee, a card fee or a service charge at the last step.

Prices are set by us and can change for future events. The price that applies to your booking is the one shown at the moment you complete it, and that is the price recorded on your order.

How a booking is made

You choose your ticket types and how many of each. The total is calculated by our system from our own prices, never from anything your browser sends, which is why the figure on the confirmation is always the figure we charge.

When you go to pay, your seats are held for 20 minutes. That hold is what stops somebody else buying the same seats while you are in the payment app. If you do not finish within those 20 minutes, or if you reject the payment, the seats go back on sale and nothing is charged.

The contract between us exists when your payment has gone through and we have sent your tickets. Until then you have not bought anything.

How payment works

Payment is by MobilePay, through Vipps MobilePay. You are sent to MobilePay, you approve the payment in the app, and you are returned here. We never see or store your card details or your bank details, and neither does this website.

When you approve the payment, the amount is first reserved on your account. It is then captured, which is the step that actually moves the money, and because your ticket is delivered the instant the payment goes through we capture it immediately. In practice you will see one charge, for the amount shown at the checkout, at the time you bought.

If a payment is approved but something on our side prevents the order from completing, we release the reservation rather than keeping it, and nothing is taken.

When your tickets arrive

Your tickets are emailed to you as soon as the payment goes through, one QR code for each person admitted. The same email carries a link to a page where the tickets can be opened again on a phone at the door, so you do not need to keep the email itself.

If nothing arrives within a few minutes, check the spam folder first and then write to info@maiya.dk with the name you booked under. We can find any booking from the name or the email address and send it again.

At the door each code is scanned once and admits one person. A code that has already been used will not admit a second person, so please do not forward a screenshot to more people than you bought tickets for.

The right of withdrawal, and why it does not apply

When you buy something online in Denmark you usually have 14 days to change your mind. That right does not apply to a ticket for an event on a fixed date.

This is section 18(2)(12) of the Danish Consumer Contracts Act, forbrugeraftaleloven, which removes the right of withdrawal from services connected with leisure activities where the contract states the date or the period on which the service will be provided. A dinner at our hall on a named event is exactly that, and the same rule is why there is no right of withdrawal on a concert, a theatre seat or a festival wristband.

So please treat a ticket as bought once you have paid. Everything below is what we do anyway, because we would rather have a full room than a strict rule.

If you cannot come

Write to us as early as you can. The easiest answer is usually to pass the ticket to somebody else, which you may do at no charge and without asking us.

If that is not possible and you tell us more than 14 days before the event, we will refund you in full. Between 14 days and 48 hours before, we will refund you if we manage to resell your seat, and we will tell you either way. Inside 48 hours we cannot refund a ticket, because the food for the event has been bought and prepared for the number of people who said they were coming.

[OWNER TO CONFIRM: the 14 day and 48 hour thresholds above are our recommendation, not a legal requirement. They are generous enough to feel fair and tight enough to protect an event whose ingredients are already bought. Change the two numbers here and nowhere else if you want a different policy.]

A refund is returned to the same MobilePay account the payment came from. There is no fee.

If we cancel or move an event

If we cancel an event, you get the whole amount back, without having to ask. We send it to the same MobilePay account and we write to tell you it is on its way.

If we move an event to another date, your ticket is valid for the new date. If the new date does not suit you, tell us and we will refund you in full instead. Either way the choice is yours and you have to do nothing to keep the money you paid.

We are not able to refund travel, accommodation or anything else you booked around the event, and we would rather say that plainly here than surprise anybody with it later.

Allergies, diet and children

Tell us about allergies and dietary requirements when you book, in the message box on the booking form, or by email afterwards with your booking reference. We cook every dish ourselves in our own kitchen, so we can usually plan around a requirement we know about in advance, and rarely around one we hear about on the night.

Our kitchen handles nuts, dairy, gluten, sesame, mustard and shellfish. We can prepare a dish without a given ingredient, and we cannot promise a kitchen in which that ingredient has never been present. If an allergy is severe, call us before you buy and we will tell you honestly whether we can look after you.

Where an event has a children's ticket, the age range is on the event page.

Behaviour and admission

We can refuse admission, or ask somebody to leave, if they are abusive to our staff or to other guests, or if they are a danger to themselves or anybody else. That is not a decision we enjoy making and it is not one we make lightly. It does not come with a refund.

Please arrive at the time the event page gives for the doors. Where a seat or a table is reserved, we hold it for 30 minutes after the stated start, after which we may reseat it so that the event can run.

Complaints, and where to take a dispute

If something was wrong, tell us first. Write to info@maiya.dk with your booking reference and what happened. Most things are fixable by the people who were in the room, and we would rather hear about it than read about it.

If we cannot agree, you can take the complaint to Mæglingsteamet for Forbrugerklager and, after that, Forbrugerklagenævnet, both at Nævnenes Hus, Toldboden 2, 8800 Viborg, or online at naevneneshus.dk.

One thing worth knowing before you spend an afternoon on it: that route has a value threshold. In 2026 a complaint must concern at least 1.220 kroner and at most 100.000 kroner, so a single ticket usually falls below the floor. We would rather tell you that here than have you find out at the end of a form.

If you live in another EU country, Forbrugereuropa, the Danish European Consumer Centre, can help with a complaint against us. There is no longer an EU online dispute resolution platform: it was closed on 20 July 2025.

Your ordinary rights as a consumer under Danish law are not affected by anything on this page. A ticket is a service rather than goods, so the two year defect rules for purchases do not apply to it, but the statutory rules on defective services do.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by Danish law, and any dispute belongs before the Danish courts.

We may change these terms. The version that applies to your booking is the version published when you made it, and we keep the previous versions so that question can always be answered.
