Practical information about the hall
Most venue websites tell you how beautiful the room is and leave the practical questions to an email exchange. This page does the opposite. It gathers the things you actually need before you enquire: how many people fit, how the tables can be arranged, how your guests get here, when you can start decorating, and what you are allowed to bring through the door.
Every answer below is written to stand on its own. Copy one paragraph into a message to the person who is helping you plan and it will still be true and still be useful. Where we cannot give an honest number without seeing your plan, we say so instead of guessing, and we settle it with you at the viewing.
Prices are not repeated here, because they live in one place and change less often than plans do. Every per-person rate is published openly on the prices page, linked at the bottom.

Seating and layouts
The hall seats 30 to 120 guests, and the arrangement is not fixed. We set the room up to your plan rather than to a diagram on a wall, so the first question is not how many chairs fit but what you want the evening to do. Three layouts cover almost every event we host.
Long tables
Long tables (langborde) are the arrangement for an evening built around speeches. Guests sit along both sides, everyone faces into the same room, and whoever stands up to speak can be seen from every seat without anybody turning a chair around. It is also the most efficient use of a floor, because guests sit shoulder to shoulder in a line instead of around a circle, so a long-table plan generally seats more people in the same room than the alternatives do. What it costs you is conversational range. At a long table you talk to the two people beside you and the two opposite, and not much further.
Round tables
Round tables (runde borde) are the arrangement for an evening where the conversation at each table matters most. Everyone at a round table can see everyone else at it, so the talk includes the whole table instead of splitting into pairs, which is why weddings and large family parties often prefer them. Two things cost you seats here. Each table needs clear floor around it so guests and staff can get in and out, so rounds use more floor per guest than a line of long tables does. And whoever is speaking will always be behind somebody, so a party with a long programme of speeches either turns chairs for it or accepts that.
The horseshoe
The horseshoe (hesteskoen) points the whole room at one place. Tables form a U with the open end left clear for a screen, a speaker, a first dance or the cake, and every guest has a clear line to it. Nobody sits on the inside edge, so it spends the most floor per guest of the three and seats the fewest. That makes it a natural fit at the smaller end of our range, and for meetings and presentations rather than for large parties.
How the guest count changes the choice
Up to around fifty guests you can usually keep the whole party in one conversation, and it is worth doing, so a single long table or a horseshoe works well. Above that it stops being realistic, and the question becomes how to give each guest a good table rather than one big one, which is where round tables and parallel long tables come in. Near the top of our range, seating everyone comfortably is the thing that decides the layout, and the arrangements that spend the most floor per guest are the first to be ruled out.
As a general planning rule, caterers allow roughly 60 cm of table edge per seated guest, plus room to push a chair back and walk behind it. That is a rule for planning a table anywhere, not a measurement of our hall. We do not publish a seat count per layout, because it would be a guess dressed up as a fact: the real answer depends on your guest number, whether you want a dance floor, a cake table or a buffet line, and where the speakers will stand. Bring your rough plan to the viewing and we will lay it out on the real floor with you.
Getting here
The venue is at Højdevej 59, 2300 Copenhagen S. That is on Amager, in the Sundby part of it, which matters mainly for how your guests should think about the journey. Amager is connected to the rest of the city by metro, bus and a handful of bridges, so this is a short trip rather than an expedition.
By metro, the nearest station is Lergravsparken, about 15 minutes walk away. By bus, the nearest stop is a few minutes away on Kastrupvej. Guests coming from Islands Brygge, Ørestad, Christianshavn, Tårnby or Kastrup never cross the harbour at all, because every one of those is on the same side as we are. Copenhagen Airport is also on Amager, so relatives flying in for a wedding land on the same island as the party.
Driving is easy, and it is why a good share of our guests arrive by car. Parking on site is free. Højdevej lies outside the paid parking zone, and there is no time limit on the street at the weekend, so anyone parking outside is not counting hours or watching an app during dinner.
One piece of advice saves more confusion than anything else on this page: put the full street address on the invitation rather than the name of the venue. Guests type whatever is on the card into Rejseplanen or a maps app, and Højdevej 59, 2300 København S routes all of them correctly from wherever they are starting. A venue name does not always do the same.
Before, during and after the day
Access for setting up is agreed before the date, not decided on the morning. Tell us what you are planning, whether that is your own flowers, a backdrop, name cards or a photo montage on the projector, and we agree a time for you to come in and do it. The same conversation fixes the start time and the finish time of the event itself, and all of it goes into your written offer so nobody is working from memory.
On the day, professional staff are here and working your event. That is part of the hall fee rather than a line you add to it. So is the cleaning afterwards, which means that when the evening ends you can collect your things and go home instead of stacking chairs at midnight.
The hall is yours alone for your booking. There is one hall, and we do not run a second event beside it, so the room and the staff belong to your party for the hours you have booked.
Nothing is confirmed until it is in writing. You get a price from the calculator or send an enquiry, we confirm availability within 24 hours, then you receive a written offer, and a deposit confirms the date. The deposit amount and the cancellation terms are set out in that offer, so you read them before you commit to anything.
The entrance is at street level and step free. If accessibility matters for any of your guests beyond that, tell us when you book. The seating layout is flexible, so routes between the tables can be widened and places held near the entrance, and it is easier to plan that into the layout than to rearrange it on the day. Ask us about anything specific before you book, and come and see the room if you can.

Questions people ask before booking
When can we get into the hall to set up?
The setup time is agreed in advance and written into your offer alongside the start and finish times, so you know before the day exactly when the room is yours to decorate. Tell us what you are planning when you enquire, because a backdrop and forty name cards need a different amount of time to a few flowers on the tables.
Can flowers or another delivery arrive before we do?
Yes, as long as we know it is coming. Tell us who is delivering and roughly when, and we will agree a window so the delivery is expected rather than a surprise. What we cannot do is take in something nobody mentioned.
Can our DJ or band come early to set up and sound check?
Yes, with notice. Tell us who is coming and how long they need when you book, and their arrival goes into the same plan as your own setup time. A sound check before the guests arrive is far easier than one during the welcome drink.
What happens if our guest numbers change after we have booked?
Tell us as soon as you know. The hall, the menu and any drinks option are all priced per person, so the guest number is the main thing that moves your total, and it also changes the seating plan. The minimum booking of 30 guests still applies, and we will tell you when we need the final count.
Is there a curfew on the music?
There is no single time we can quote you here, because the finish time is agreed for each booking rather than set by a house rule. It is settled before the date and written into your offer, so tell us the evening you have in mind and we will tell you straight away what is possible.
Is there somewhere for a speaker to plug in?
Yes. A professional sound system is included in the hall fee and speeches run through it, and the projector is included too. Tell us in advance that somebody is speaking or presenting, bring any files on a laptop or a memory stick, and we will set it up and test it with you before the guests arrive.
Where do guests leave their coats?
Coats are planned into the layout rather than left to chance. We are not going to promise you a separate cloakroom, so tell us at booking how many guests are coming and what time of year it is, and we agree at the viewing where coats and bags will go.
Are children welcome at an evening party?
Yes, children are welcome at an evening party. Children aged 5 to 12 pay half the menu price. Tell us how many are coming and roughly how old they are, and we will plan the seating so that families are not spread across opposite ends of the hall.
What can we pay with?
Cash, credit card, MobilePay and bank transfer are all accepted. The deposit that confirms your date, and the terms attached to it, are set out in the written offer you receive before you commit to anything.
What languages do you speak?
Danish, English and Nepali. Write to us in whichever you prefer and we will answer in the same one within 24 hours, Monday to Sunday.
Where to go next
Every per-person rate is published on prices and what is included, and the price calculator turns those rates into a real total for your guest list in about a minute. If you would rather see the room than read about it, there are photographs of the hall, and the frequently asked questions go further into catering, menus, drinks and booking terms than this page does.
When you are ready, get in touch and we will confirm availability within 24 hours. If you already know the occasion, the pages that treat it properly are weddings and receptions, corporate events and a party for 100 guests, which is the one that takes the seating question at full size. For the local picture, there is also the party venue page for Amager.
