It is not a restaurant's back room, where your party sits behind a screen while normal service carries on around it and the tables are needed again at nine. It is not an empty hall handed over with a key and a cleaning deposit either. The difference most people notice first is the kitchen. It is in the same building, it is ours, and it cooks your event, which means the venue and the caterer are one conversation instead of two. Every rate is in the price table further down this page, so the whole cost of your guest list can be worked out before you write to us.

Why Maiya

One hall, one event, no sharing

There is a single hall here and your booking has it. No second party through the wall, nobody passing through on the way to somewhere else, and no bar closing at a time that belongs to another event. That sounds like a small thing until you have sat through the alternative at a confirmation or a fiftieth, listening to someone else's music come through the partition.

The kitchen is in the same building as the hall

Maiya Nepali Kitchen cooks at this address. Nothing is driven across the city in insulated boxes, nothing is held warm for two hours in traffic, and if something needs adjusting halfway through service it takes a minute rather than a phone call to a subcontractor. Set menus run from Silver to Diamond, custom menus are built when none of them fits, and any menu can be made fully vegetarian. That whole side of the booking is described on the venue with catering page.

Standing party or seated banquet, same room

A party is looser: people are on their feet, the music matters, and it runs late. A banquet is seated, with a table plan, courses in order and speeches between them. The hall does both, and the layout is built around whichever you are holding, with long tables, round tables, a horseshoe or an open floor. If yours is the seated kind, the banquet hall page goes into the detail.

The occasions we host, and where to read about yours

Weddings, receptions, engagements, confirmations, christenings, birthdays, baby showers, anniversaries, corporate events and private parties all happen in this room, dressed differently each time. If you already know what you are planning, the wedding, birthday and corporate event pages answer the questions that come up for each of them rather than making you translate a general page into your own occasion.

In Copenhagen, on Amager, with parking outside

We are in Sundby, about a fifteen minute walk from Lergravsparken station, with the nearest bus stop a few minutes away on Kastrupvej. Parking on site is free and Højdevej is outside the paid parking zone, with no weekend time limit on the street, which is not something many venues closer to the centre can offer. Copenhagen Airport is on Amager too, when part of the family is flying in. There is more about the location and the trip for guests on the party venue on Amager page.

The room comes ready and the price is published

Standard decoration, a professional sound system, a projector, professional staff on the day, cleaning afterwards and flexible seating layouts are all part of the hall fee. There is no separate sound charge and no cleaning bill at the end. The model is a hall fee per person plus a menu per person, with drinks as an option, and all of it is in the table below rather than behind an enquiry form.

Frequently asked questions

How many guests can Maiya Party Hall seat?

The hall seats 30 to 120 guests, with a minimum of 30. For smaller groups we lay tables for you in Maiya Nepali Kitchen, the restaurant in the same building, so it is still worth asking.

What is the difference between a party hall and a banquet hall?

The words describe the same room but usually two different events. A party is looser: people stand, dance and stay late. A banquet is seated, with a table plan, service in courses and speeches. We host both in this hall and set it up for whichever you are having.

What is included in the hall fee?

Standard decoration, a professional sound system, a projector, professional staff on the day, cleaning afterwards and flexible seating layouts. In other words the room arrives ready, and none of it has to be hired separately.

Can we hire the hall without food?

No. All the food comes from our own kitchen in this building, and that is exactly what saves you coordinating a room and a caterer separately. In return the menu is built around your guests, and any menu can be made fully vegetarian.

Can we bring our own drinks?

Yes. You can bring your own soft drinks and alcohol for a small charge per person, take the soft drinks package charged per person, or take no drinks option at all. All three are in the price table on this page.

Can we bring our own decoration and play our own music?

Yes to both. Standard decoration is included and you are welcome to add your own, and the sound system will play your own playlist. If you are bringing a DJ or a live act, tell us in advance so the layout can allow for them.

Where exactly is the hall, and how do guests get there?

Højdevej 59, 2300 Copenhagen S, in Sundby on Amager. It is about a fifteen minute walk from Lergravsparken station and a few minutes from the nearest bus stop on Kastrupvej. Put the full address on the invitation rather than the venue name and every guest gets a route from where they are starting.

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes, parking on site is free. Højdevej is outside the paid parking zone and there is no weekend time limit on the street, so guests can stop at the door instead of circling for a space.

What does hiring the hall cost?

A hall fee per person, plus a menu per person, plus drinks if you want them. Every rate is in the table on this page and the calculator adds them up for your guest count. Children aged 5 to 12 pay half the menu price.

How far ahead should we book, and can we see the room first?

Saturdays in the confirmation season and through the summer go first, so write as early as you can. Enquiries and viewings are free and we reply within 24 hours, Monday to Sunday. You are very welcome to come and see the hall before you decide anything.
