Maiya Party Hall

Reception venue in Copenhagen, 30–120 guests

A reception is not a dinner with a seating plan and four courses. Guests arrive across a couple of hours, say hello, eat a little, hear a speech and leave again, and some of them stay on. That asks something different of a room: space to stand and talk, enough seats for the people who need one, and a buffet that can stay open while guests come and go.

Why Maiya

A reception can sit in the middle of the day

Most receptions happen in the afternoon, between the working day and dinner, and that is exactly the slot most venues do not offer because they only sell events. We are happy to take daytime bookings, and an afternoon reception need not cost the same as an event with a full dinner, because the menu is your choice.

A wedding reception without the dinner

If you are marrying and then gathering family, colleagues and neighbours for a couple of hours of buffet and speeches rather than a full wedding dinner, the reception format is the right one. If it later grows into a full celebration, read about the same room as a wedding venue.

Anniversaries, retirements and openings

Company anniversaries, a milestone birthday marked at work, a retirement reception for a departing colleague, an opening reception for a new business: the setup is the same. There is a projector for photographs and figures from the years behind you, and a sound system for the speeches. See corporate event hire if the day carries on into the event.

Guests can come and go

Nobody has to be seated at the same moment. We lay the room out with seats for the people who want them and floor space for the people who would rather stand and talk, and the buffet can stay out while guests arrive in waves across the afternoon.

A buffet from our own kitchen

Maiya Nepali Kitchen cooks at this address. For a reception a buffet works better than a served menu, because guests eat when they arrive. Set menus run Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond and any menu can be made fully vegetarian.

Speeches, thanks and a few photographs

The hall has a professional sound system and a projector, so the speech is audible and the pictures go up without hired equipment. That is the part of a reception people remember, and it is also the part that most often goes wrong in a room where you have to arrange the technology yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Can we hold the reception during the day?

Yes. We are glad to host daytime receptions, which suits anniversaries, retirement receptions and openings.

How many guests can you take?

The hall takes 30 to 120 guests. A smaller group is welcome too: the hall fee is billed for a minimum of 30 guests, while the menu and drinks follow your actual guest count.

Does everyone have to be seated?

No. Seating layouts are flexible, so we can combine seats and standing space for guests who arrive and leave across a couple of hours.

What do you serve at a reception?

The food comes from our own kitchen and is served as a buffet. You choose between set menus, or a menu built to your request.

Is there equipment for speeches and photographs?

Yes. A professional sound system and a projector are included in the hall booking.

Can we hold a reception first and a party afterwards?

Yes. It is the same hall and the layout can be changed, so an afternoon reception and an event celebration can happen in the same place.

What drinks options are there?

You can take the unlimited soft drinks package or choose tap water only, each priced per guest, or bring your own drinks for one flat fee for the whole party, set by group size.

Is there parking for guests?

Yes, there is free on-site parking at Højdevej 59, 2300 Copenhagen S.

What does a reception venue cost?

The price is a hall fee per guest plus a menu per guest, with drinks as an option. Use the price calculator to see your per-person price straight away, and we answer enquiries within 24 hours.
